Apple launches Surveyor App
Tech-Giant, Apple has introduced a new app called the Surveyor app. Its main aim is to collect real-world mapping data for the enhanced accuracy of its Maps app.
Surveyor app?
The sole purpose of this app is to provide enhanced and improved mapping for the widely praised Apple Maps App. Several rumors suggest that this app will mainly be used to gather information regarding minute details of road signs like street lights, traffic signals, and other road signs so that the Apple Maps app remains up to date.
Availability of this app:
Several sources suggest that this app won’t be available publicly. Instead, it would be only available in access for Apple-partnered companies that are provided with mapping assignments for Apple.
When opened, the users will be redirected to ‘Open Partner App’ which will further take them to another app called ‘Premise’
What is Premise?
Premise is a surveyor app designed by the San Fransisco-based company, Premise Data. This app provides its users with an opportunity to earn rewards by doing simple tasks like collecting surveys, reporting construction details, and taking photos of certain places as assigned to its users.
It is believed that the Surveyor App will be completely dependent on the Premise app as it will assign mapping tasks to the users via Premise, which the users have to complete with an iPhone. The users will have to switch to landscape and then take pictures of the designated route while driving their vehicles.
The function of Surveyor App:
According to Apple, the Surveyor app has been designed with the sole function of collecting data and enhancing and refining small details on the roads. This seems to indicate that Apple is improving its Maps system and enhancing the user experience. It appears that the Surveyor app will be using a similar strategy that was used by its rivals, mainly Google Maps and Waze.
