A new and strict traffic law has now been implemented by the Chandigarh traffic police. If this law is not carefully abided by the citizens of Chandigarh, it can result in their Driver’s Licence being suspended. Read below to learn more about this strict law.
What is this law?
Just a few days prior, the Chandigarh administration started the application of a new traffic law in which drivers can get their licenses suspended if they fail to comply with the traffic police. In this law, it is simply stated that if a driver manages to get 5 or more than 5 traffic challans and fails to pay them within a time period of 15 days, their driver’s license will get canceled and will be suspended until further notice by the Chandigarh Govt. The application of this law has been started by the administration of Chandigarh this Monday.
Moreover, the offender’s vehicle will be marked as “Not to be Transacted” which means that any kind of transaction like the transfer of RC cannot be done and the vehicle can even not be sold until the pending challans are cleared. This is a really strict punishment for those who think that they can get away by not abiding by this law.
Why has this law been passed?
This law has been passed due to the outrageous fact that there are a total of 7.5 lakh challans, whether e-challans or district court challans that are not yet cleared in the city of Chandigarh.
The licensing authority also stated that Traffic violations are one of if not the largest cause of accidents on roads. Talking about Chandigarh, they stated that the city of Chandigarh has seen a sharp rise in the violations of traffic rules, which has led to the administration in turn, taking such a harsh decision. The administration has taken this effort to reduce the number of accidents and also to force the offenders into paying their e-challans on time as failing to comply can land them in a really serious situation.
What’s next?
As this strict law has been passed by the government, they are expecting a sharp fall in the number of traffic violations committed. Considering the severity of this law, it is a really stern law by the Chandigarh Govt. In the end, this law is just for the betterment of the people of Chandigarh and also for the prevention of the number of increasing accidents that are happening all around Chandigarh.
