Case Against Amritsar Travel Agent
Punjab Police Booked a case against one of the travel agents from Amritsar district who sent one of the deportees to the US through Dunki Roots, which was very difficult and risky. The Deportee Said he was duped by this travel Agent.
The case is registered under section 318(4) against this travel agent against the Regulation Act 2014 comes under BNS and Travel Professionals.
The Name of the Travel Agent is Satnam Singh Manan, who is a resident of Kotli Khvillage falling under Bhindi Saidan Police Station Amritsar.
Who Lodged the Complaint?
The Complaint was given by Daler Singh who is a resident of Salempura village in Amritsar district. Daler Singh is under the 104 deportees from the US.
As per the statement from Daler Sngh, in 2023 one of my relatives Gurusewak Singh introduced me to the Travel Agent and a deal was done for 60 lakhs to send me to the US.
He said after the deal I deposited 5 lakhs to Satnam Singh’s Account along with my passport. After the deal Travel agent arranged a Nigerian Visa but I had to return because I could not get a further visa from there.
Again he said on 15 August he sent me to Dubai and I stayed 5-6 days in Dubai. From there I was sent to Brazil. On 26th August my wife and My brother in Law gave Rs 15 lakh cash to Satnam Singh. After 5 days my wife transferred 15 lakh to his account and after a few days, she transferred 6 more lakh. my wife and brother-in-law paid ₹34 lakh to travel Agent to ensure that, I crossed the US border from Mexico.
He mentioned that as per the deal he had to send me legally but I was taken through the Dunki Route which was very Tough. They Took us through Panama Jungles and then he was arrested by US authorities on the 15th of January.
Statement from Ministers
Punjab NRI affair Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said the government has started work on such travel agents. Punjab Chief minisnister Bhagwant maan is also in action .
He said People can raise their complaints at NRI’s affairs Department. They will take concrete action and make sure that travel agents will not make a fool of anyone in the future.
Complaints lodged in other Regions
Meanwhile, Karnal police also booked 4 cases on such incidents under the charges of breach of trust and cheating. As per DSP city, the cases are from Madhuban, Asandh, and Ram Nagar Police stations.
