Badrinath Avalanche: 57 feared trapped 16 rescued

An Avalanche hit Badrinath on Friday, the road construction workers working on the spot were trapped in the situation. The incident occurred at Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district. reportedly 57 trapped so far in the avalanche, but 15 have been rescued by the BRO.

The incident happened at Mana village close to Indo-Tibetan border. The 57 workers were all localite working on road construction. 15 were rescued and taken to nearest army camp at Mana in critical condition. The incident was reported 3 km ahead of Badrinath Dham.

Border Roads organization executive told sources that approx. 60-68 people were working on road construction near BRO camp. 4 ambulance and 70 people have been involved in rescue operations.

BRO team, NDRF, State disaster responsive force, Local authority, Indo-Tibetan border police are assigned on spot to find the missing workers.

CM’s reaction on Avalanche incident

Moved by the incident, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Dhami expressed and extended prayers on twitter and wrote that Lord Badri help the brothers to stay safe.

IMD has issued an orange alert warning for hilly regions as rainfall of up to 20 cm can be seen in next 2 days of the starting march. IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall in the area and it has been warned that rain will be so heavy that it can clog roads and can localize flood in the area. and waterlogging in valley. Occasional reduction in visibility can happen which have to disrupt and minor damage can unpaved roads.
