CM Biren Singh: CM Biren Singh calls for resignation after facing 21 months of crisis-like situation of opposition from KUki-Zo leaders and betrayal of NDA partner in retaining position. It was the pressure coming from opposition as well as Imphal valley acquaintances result in the resignation.

Ruckus within the party over the CM’s position and unhappiness among the colleagues over party leadership and they were seeking help from the center to replace the CM. Party leaders from Manipur reportedly Wrote to PM Modi’s office to change the leadership in the state. The real cause behind the rumblings within his own ranks was the ethnic conflict in the state which started in 2023.
Singh got no support from 7 BJP MLAs other party’s 3 MLAs and KUKI Zo groups. Earlier other groups were against the CM but this year BJP leaders withdraw the support as well.
The inflection point was the Budget session of Manipur assembly in which no confidence motion came in picture with the appeals for change in leadership going unheard from last many months MLAs prepared to take this strategic move. It was set to begin on Monday. As the groups were formed of Brien’s Ally and foes and they camped to the session separately Sunday Morning as session was about to commence.
Party against Biren Singh
The situation got worse for Biren when speaker THOKCHAM one of Biren’s foe visited New Delhi the past week and met JP NADDA the current BJP President. As per the sources Thokcham Satyabrata told Nadda about no confidence motion and also that he will not be able to stop it. Also On Feb 3 earlier the past week Khem Chand Singh a minister of rural development reached New Delhi and warned BJP supreme leader about the situation of collapsing of government in the state.
Biren Singh’s resignation now started by controversy of Maitei Kuki ethnic violence which took nearly 200 lives so far. This was a critical issue since 2 years.
Earlier on 3 feb, a confidential package with leaked audio was taken to supreme court on which Biren was the key person to be guilty.
