Union Budget 2025 was released on 1 Feb 2025. The Key Highlights were although remains the tax exemption topic only where People earning ₹12 lakh/year got a tax benefit of Rs 80,000. The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman announced that people in India whose salary falls under ₹12 lakh a year will get a tax relief of ₹80,000, and 100 percent of the tax within the existing range will be exempted. We will see what other commodities and things saw a relief or decrement in duty or BCD(Basic commodities duty) and what got costlier.
List of things became cheaper as per Union Budget 2025-2026
Avtos: multi seater vehicles i.e 10 or more capacity vehicles became cheap- BCD to 20%
Critical minerals: Including cobalt and Lithium ion battery waste 12 more minerals exempt from BCD.
Ethernet Carrier-grade switches: Switches exempted from BCD.
EV and mobile batteries : 35 EV and 28 mobile battery exempted goods became cheaper as exempted from BCD.
Laboratory Chemicals: From 150% excise duty is now down to 70%.
Life saving drugs: 36 essential medicines and medical facilities are now exempted from BCD.
Open- cell displays: On open cell displays duties reduced to 5%.
Seafood : Frozen fish paste and hydro sated are at tax of 5% which was earlier at 30% and 15 %.
Shipbuilding: BCD exemption for 10 years.
Tourism: medical tourism will provided with visa free waivers.
Telecom: Ethernet switches taxed below 10 percent now will effect telecom sectors as well.
Wet blue leather, crust leather: exemption of duty is seen on crust leather.
What is costlier after budget 2025?
Flat panel displays: TVs and mobiles flat panel displays faces hike in duty from 10 to 20 percent.
Social welfare Surcharge: Earlier exempted from duty now 82 tariff lines under cess.
