The Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab has given a big gift to its employees and pensioners! The arrears of the Sixth Pay Commission, Leave Encashment, and Pension money will now be available, that too soon! The cabinet has approved the decision under which about six lakh pensioners and employees will be directly benefit from this.
In the cabinet meeting, which was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, many important decisions were taken in favor of employees and pensioners. From the time period of January 1, 2016, to June 30, 2022, the government has decided to pay the revised arrears of pension, salary, and leave encashment. Apart from this, the DR and DA will also be given from July 1, 2021, to March 31, 2024. There are about three lakh government employees and three lakh pensioners in Punjab.

And this good news does not stop here! The arrears will start getting paid from April 2025-26 and will be completed by 2028. There will be an additional burden of ₹200 crore every month from April 2025. Arrears will be paid out of ₹14,000 crore, which also includes dearness allowance/dearness relief from 1 July 2021 to 31 March 2024. The payment will be made in several phases, which will provide great relief to 3 lakh employees and 3 lakh pensioners of the state.
Good news for acid attack victims, too!
Under the ” Punjab Financial Assistance Acid Victims Scheme, 2024,”. The cabinet has also ensured that financial assistance amount will also be given to the acid attack victim. Previously, the amount was Rs 8,000, which has been increased to Rs 10,000 per month. The best thing is that now males and transgender will also be included in this scheme, previously, only females were included under acid attack victims.
