EPFO

EPFO changed some of its rules. Now name, date of birth, mother-father’s name, gender, nationality, married status, partner’s name, edit date can all be updated without any document.

Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) changed some rules to provide relief to all its members. This rule will benefit approximately 3.9 lakh people. Earlier, to update anything, they had to submit documents, the process of which was going slow. Now under the new policy, all members will be able to update their EPFO profile without any document.

3.9 lakh people had pending requests which will get a lot of relief from this rule. All these people will be able to update all their data according to the new rules by cancelling their requests.

Which information can people update?

Under the changes in the new rules of EPFO, people can update their personal details. In which their name, D.O.B, parents’ name, marriage status, partner’s name, gender, nationality etc. can be updated without submitting any document.

Which people will get this facility?

This information has been given by EPFO, this will provide convenience to those people who wanted to update their personal details. Earlier this process used to take up to 28 days.

Earlier, to update, people had to get their documents verified by the employer and generate a request, which took a lot of time and many requests remained pending.

With the coming of the new policy, people will get relief and the work of those who have verified with Universal Account Number (UAN) Aadhar card will be done in no time.

Linking Aadhar and PAN card is very important

With the coming of the new policy, about 45 percent of people can update their personal details immediately. However, those beneficiaries will have to link their Aadhar card and Pan card with EPFO account. This will make it easy for them to update their personal details. Because it is mandatory for any kind of update or withdrawal. Without this, updating may take time.

The remaining 50 percent work can be done by EPFO after approval by the designated employer.

How will the whole process be completed?

Under PIB, a total of 27 percent requests are related to personal details. So, this new rule will make updating people faster and reduce

the number of requests that are pending. For this, members will have to link their Aadhar Card and Pan Card with their Universal Account Number (UAN).

Under this policy, no person appointed by EPFO will have to get approval and verification done. Any member who wants to update his personal details can do so through EPFO portal or Umang app.
