Historically Harshit Rana became the first Indian player to take three wickets on his debut in any form

Harshit Rana (4)

He achieved the feat on his One Day International (ODI) debut against England by taking three wickets and conceding 53 runs in a 7-over spell with one maiden. He had earlier had great debut performances in Test and Twenty20 International cricket.

The above feat comes from Harshit Rana of India registering his name as the first Indian bowler to take three wickets on his debut in all formats of the game, including three wickets in ODI’s with 53 runs in seven overs, including one maiden. The match against England was played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium.

The Englishman, Philip Salt, took control in the third over and made 26 runs, making it a challenging beginning for Rana’s ODI debut. He was taken off the attack after conceding 37 runs in his first three overs.

However, he rebounded quite well, taking three wickets and bowling a maiden in the next four overs for figures of 7-1-53-3.

He was a concussion substitute for Shivam Dube for the fourth T20I against England at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium when he bagged 4-0-33-3.

He gave away three wickets for 48 runs in his Test debut playing as a seam bowler in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia at Perth.

The 23-year-old has played two Test matches and one T20 International. He has taken four wickets in Tests at an average of 50.75, best figures of 3/48, while taking three wickets in his one and only T20I at an average of 11.0. He has taken 22 wickets from 14 List A matches so far at an average of 23.45, with best figures of 4/17.

All these have stirred great discussions among cricket fans and former Players.
