Kailash Mansarovar Yatra direct flights can be booked in Summer. India and China commenced a two-day foreign secretary-level discussion corridor. The main agenda was to enhance mutual ties and practical cooperation.
The major outcome is the decision to Resume the Kailash Mansarovar yatra in the summer. For that, there is a principal agreement for the resumption of direct flights between the two countries. Further discussions include PM Modi and Xi Jingping agreeing on a consensus about Kazan last October. the two secretaries reviewed the state of the relationships between the two countries and agreed to people-centric steps to enhance mutual ties.
2-days dialogue
Indian foreign secretary Vikram Misri was in Beijing where he met Chinese foreign officials with a top focus on implementing the consensus on the Ladakh border issue, strengthening on bilateral dialogue, and enhancing political economic, and people-to-people relationships. While the Chinese foreign ministry highlighted the alignment of bilateral ties with the interest of donations he also acknowledged the progress made on the Kazan consensus and underlined India’s commitment to resolving the differences and promoting a healthy relationship and practical cooperation.
Resumption of Kailash Mansarovar yatra
The resumption of Kailash Mansarovar yatra in addition to direct air services between the two countries is a historic move. This meeting leads to the fact that India and China restoring a mechanism to enhance dialogue and maintain cooperation working and resolving specific issues. the resumption of this bilateral follows from the agreement of leadership levels to discuss the Indochina issues. Vikram said “I cannot overemphasize the importance of communication between two countries. And I want to specifically record the effort Chinese diligence has made to communicate at various levels.”
The resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is a big step in the direction of building a strong foundation including a visit to Mount Kailash and Mansarovar lake in Tibet which was suspended in 2020 after the outbreak of COVID-19.
Other highlights
China and India should seize the opportunity to move towards each other rather than be suspicious and alienate. This proved to be a positive outcome which was not renewed in 2020 post-COVID outbreak and escalated by the Galvan clash. An early meeting will also held to discuss the resumption of provision of data related to the hydrological dam project and cooperation about the trans-border river Brahmaputra. It is still not in talks that will Dam on Brahmaputra will be a threatening move for India as China’s share of water is only 7%.
