Celebrity and cricket star Kapil Dev has recently shared his opinion regarding an issue that has been prevailing among the members of the Indian cricket team. To learn more, read the article below.

What is the issue?

The issue has been raised by prominent cricketer of the Indian Cricket team, Virat Kohli, who last Sunday in an interview stated that there is a need for families to be with the players when they are on international duty as it gives them a huge morale boost. He (Virat Kohli) further stated that bringing family members along can even lead to a boost in a player’s performance

Virat further stated that BCCI should implement some kind of rule in which players get a certain amount of time to spend with their respective families during International matches.

After the recent loss against Australia in the test series by a score of 3-1, BCCI has introduced some new rules on this fairly controversial topic. The governing body has further issued a directive stating that on international trips that last for more than 45 days, BCCI is allowing a maximum of 14 days of family time.

Whereas on shorter tours, a maximum of one week would be given as family time.

Cricket World Cup winner and captain of the Indian cricket team, Kapil Dev has given his advice on what he considers an ideal solution for this issue:

Kapil Dev further stated that family is important but the importance of the team should also be at a similar level. He gave the example of star players like Virat Kohli, Jadeja, and Mohammed Shami who had brought their families with them. Their families had stayed in other hotels and the players themselves had paid for their stay.

He further added that when he used to represent the Indian team during the 80’s, the idea of bringing families was considered but was never implemented.

Is this view right?

Many believe that this view by the veteran cricketer and someone who is now serving as the president of the Golf Tour of India (PGTI) is a bit strong but the words spoken by him are absolutely right.
