Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojna: The government’s initiative, which endeavors to address housing needs in remote regions, will provide all homeless households and communities living in Kutcha and deteriorated residences with a pucca house with basic amenities. The house must have a minimum size of 25 square meters and include a designated area for hygienic meal preparation. The program has been operational well in every district of the state since it was launched during the 2016–2017 fiscal year.
Aim of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojna
A Permanent Wait List (PWL) was developed using statistics from the 2011 Socio-Economic Caste Census. The program’s beneficiaries are chosen from the PWL. The entire implementation protocol and beneficiary selection are carried out via an online software-based MIS system named AwaasSoft.
Benefits of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana
Each beneficiary receives 1.2 lakhs in unit support, with 1.3 lakhs going to places that are especially difficult to access.
In addition to the unit support, MGNREGA provides 90/95 person-days of unskilled
labour wages for home construction.
Under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana, The central and state legislatures split the unit cost (housing) aid 60:40. Recipients will receive the unit assistance (fund) in three installments: Rs. 60,000 in the first installment, Rs. 50,000 in the second, and Rs. 10,000 in the third. For IAP districts and difficulty areas, the amount is Rs. 60,000 in the first, Rs. 60,000 in the second, and Rs. 10,000 in the third.
