Your Right as a Citizen
.1) Ask for the Identity Card of the Cop: If someone stops your vehicle then you can ask for his identification ID in case he is not wearing it.
You can note down his buckle number too for reference. In case he refuses to show then you can also refuse to show your documents.
2) Refuse to hand over your License: You must show the Driving license to Cop if asked as per section 130 of the Vehicle Motor Act 1988 but you can refuse to hand over this to COP if you do not wish to do so
3) Take a receipt for the document Confiscation: If traffic police take your driving license or any other document then you can ask for the receipt from them if they refuse to do so then you can refuse to give the documents.
4) Object towing if someone is in the car: you can raise your objection on towing if someone is sitting in the car. Police can not tow a car if someone is sitting inside the Car.
5) Issuance of Challan: You can raise your refusal if the Cop does not have a challan book or E-Challan generator
6) Payment of Challan: You have a right to pay the challan on the spot if the cop has at least of sub-inspector rank or higher.
