Under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana, the Delhi government, now headed by Chief
Minister Rekha Gupta has set up yet another welfare scheme intended for
economically weaker sections of women. Under this scheme, eligible women will
receive ₹2500 on a monthly basis.

Delhi Budget 2025: Landmark Step in the Welfare of Women

 

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the Delhi Budget for the year 2025 on
Tuesday. Out of which, This budget has increased this year to ₹1 lakh crore which is
with a rise of 31.5 percent against last year’s budget. The government has
concentrated on many aspects like development, education, health and all these
budgets on women’s welfare.


One of the significant points of the budget will be the Mahila Samridhi Yojana that
shall give financially weaker women ₹2500 every month, in order to improve the
economic as well as the standard of living of these women

 

What are the procedures under Mahila Samridhi Yojana of?

Women Empowerment Scheme

‘Samridhi’ refers to prosperity, and ‘Mahila’ means women. This is the term coined for
some means that empower women and grant them financial assistance in Delhi.
This is a scheme that was earlier proposed by the BJP and has now started being
implemented by the government after the elections in Delhi.

The government will transfer around ₹2500 per month directly into the bank account
of the women who are covered under this scheme. This will help them cover their
basic necessities, keep household expenses, or develop themselves.

 

Who can avail of this scheme?

 

Not all the women can apply under this scheme. The Delhi government has set
certain criteria so that only those women who deserve it can avail of their benefits.
Eligibility Criteria

1. Income Limit
This is meant for economically weaker women.
Only women whose family income does not exceed ₹3 lakh per annum can apply.
Women who pay income tax are excluded from consideration.

2. Employment Status
Women who are government employees cannot apply.
Women already being helped through some other government schemes are not
eligible.

3. Age Criteria
The applicant should be between 18 and 60 years.

4. Residence Criterion
The woman has to stay in Delhi for at least the last 5 years.

 

How can we Apply for Mahila Samarthya Yojana?

 

The application of online mode has been announced by the Delhi government. AA
dedicated portal is being built; however, the date of commencement for registration
has not yet been specified.

Documents Required for Application:

While the government has not officially offered a list of mandatory documents,
probable requirements of applicants are:

Aadhaar Card (for confirming the identity)

Below Poverty line ration card (to prove an applicant’s financial condition)

Proof of Residence (to prove residence in Delhi for the last 5 years)

Income Certificate (by the SDM or any other authorized officer)

Details of Bank Account (linked with Aadhaar)

Mobile Numbers (for OTP and updates)

After the portal goes live, women can apply online by filling in the application form
and uploading supporting documentation.
